ABOUT

Guyahn Early Childhood Playgroup

Guyhayn (meaning Possum) Playgroup has been operating fo the past 11 years and is a grassroots, Aboriginal-designed, led and delivered supported playgroup grounded in cultural connection and community participation. 

Guyahyn offers a range of cultural and educational play-based activities to support jarjums development, community connections and well-being.

Play based learning experiences link with the Bundjalung seasonal calender and Early Years Learning Framework and include: creative expressions, arts and crafts, circle time, language learning, songs and stories, gross motor and sensory play. 

Guyahyn Playgroup is facilitated by a team of qualified Indigenous Early Childhood Educators.

Parents attend the playgroup and learn alongside their children, strengthening cultural identity and their child’s development.  There is no cost and a healthy lunch and transport is provided.

Funded By NIAA Indigenous Advancement Strategy and with generous support from The Heart Of Love Foundation

  • Mondays, 10am-1pm during the school term.

  • Northern Rivers Children’s Services, 4 Park St Tweed Heads,  plus excursions on country throughout the term.

  • Indigenous children aged 0-5 years, and their parents/carers.

    • Healthy morning tea and lunch

    • Transport available

    • Arts and Crafts

    • Outdoor time

    • Language, song and dance
