Bulaan Dalang Galii Naa Gan Ngaa Leen Duu Artist Residency
Bulaan Dalang Galii Naa Gan Ngaa Leen Duu is a 12 month artist residency for First Nations creatives on Bundjalung Country.
‘Bulaan Dalang Galii Naa Gan Ngaa Leen Duu’ translates to Bulaan meaning ‘together’, Dalang Galii Naa meaning ‘artists’ and Gan Ngaa Leen Duu meaning ‘learning and sharing. We thank Uncle Roy Gordan for translating and giving permission for us to use Bundjalung language for our program name.
Developed by The Returning Indigenous Corporation, Bulaan Dalang Galii Naa Gan Ngaa Leen Duu is focused on supporting emerging creative practitioners, providing opportunities to connect, explore different art forms and mediums, and up-skill in arts business.
Workshops are facilitated throughout the year by established Blak artists and cultural leaders, offering professional learning sessions, time for self-directed artistic exploration and cultural workshops.
Each cohort of artists has regular mentoring sessions and work together to produce a public art mural on Bundjalung Country and a group exhibition on both Bundjalung and Gadigal County.
The 2026 Artist Residency program is supported by Create NSW, Regional Art Fund and Nagnata.

The program began in October 2023 with 12 Indigenous artists coming together for a 5-day cultural and on Country immersion which included masterclasses with Otis Carey, Tania Marlow, Dr Bronwyn Bancroft and Penny Evans.
In 2023-2024, artists in the program engaged in the following workshops and exhibitions:
3 month – Ethical Fashion Masterclass with Nagnata
6 month – Mural Painting with Otis Hope Carey
9 month - Exhibition at Lone Goat Gallery, Byron Bay
12 month – Exhibition at Amarina AARI, Lismore
Our 2023-24 resident artists are: Bindimu, Sonya Breckenridge, Kristina Davis, Janelle Duncan, Tracey Duroux, Kim Healey, Wayne King, Arminel Nagas, Jasmin Stanford, Tim Stanford, Shaun Tucker, Jai Walker.
